PROCEDURE :

 Before belly button therapy it is important to thoroughly clean the belly button. Use a cotton bud to reach the folds in the navel to remove trapped dirt.
 Oils, solutions and herbs can be poured directly into the belly and abdomen and massaged in the direction of your digestion. Never put essential oils directly into the navel! They need to be diluted in a carrier oil first and preferably patch tested for allergies and irritations.
 Test it on a patch of skin to make sure you’re not sensitive
 Oils/solutions can be slightly warm but do not pour boiling or hot solutions onto the skin.
 Do not perform this on a full stomach. Allow a few hours for food to pass.
 Belly bathing is not suitable if you are pregnant.
 Belly bathing is not a substitution for major health conditions.
 Coconut oil can be used as a carrier oil for the therapy .
 Keep the oil stagnant for 30mins to 45 mins , 3 days a week for 4 weeks .

In Unani system of Medicine the term Seborrhoeic dermatitis is not present but the term “Hazaz
wa Abriya” is present. The signs and symptoms of Hazaz are similar to Seborrhoeic Dermatitis.Hazaz are small particles which shed from the head in the form of scales without
ulceration.In Modern Medicine it is defined as “A very common chronic dermatosis.characterized by redness and scaling and occurring in regions where the sebaceous glands are
most active, such as the face and scalp, the presternal area, and in the body folds. Mild scalp Seborrhoeic Dermatitis causes flaking, i.e. dandruff. Its exact cause is still unknown but it is
presumed that over growth of Yeast Malassezia furfur may play a part in the development of Seborrhoeic Dermatitis. According to Unani Medicine it is caused by saline phlegm (balgham-eshor),
dryness in temperament(mizaj).The treatment of Seborrhoeic Dermatitis in Unani Medicine is depend upon the cause.According to Nafees Bin Oz Kirmani In this disease the function of sebaceous gland is deranged
so the sebum secretion is increased which accumulates in the scalp in the form of scales when
these scales dry then it started to shedding. It usually affects the thin and weak persons.

TAQASHSHURE JILD( PSORIASIS)

Psoriasis is a chronic, immune-mediated, inflammatory skin disease characterized by skin surface inflammation, epidermal proliferation, hyperkeratosis, angiogenesis, and abnormal keratinization.

IN Unani system of medicine psoriasis is not mentioned in any classical text, but various skin ailments having scales and itching are described in detail by most of the Unani physicians in their tretises. Among them Taqashshure Jild is one, characterised by dryness of skin and scale formation, which clinically resembles very much with the psoriasis.

Ibn Zohr and Majoosi clearly explained the pathogenesis of Taqashshure Jild on the basis of Humoral theory, according to them excessive amount of Khilte ghaleez (Abnormal Sauda) gets accumulated in the skin and hamper its nutrition and function, due to which skin becomes dead and fallout in the form of scales.

Unani physicians are succesfully treating this ailment since ancient times by adopting various modes of treatment like:
Evacuation of Khilte Ghaleez (Abnormal Sauda): this may be done through Fasd (Venesection), Irsale Alaq (Leeching), Munzijo-Mushil, or Hajama.,Tarteebe Mizaj and Badan by Hammam, Ghiza and Rest.Local application of Murakhi (Relaxant), Jali (Detergent), and Muhallil (Resolvent) advia in form of Marham (Ointment) or Roghan (Oil).
